Happy Birthday Maddy!

It's my Maddy's birthday today. She is 13. I can't believe it. She is getting older and our time may be limited with her as she is starting to show some signs of aging rather rapidly (she can't hear and now is starting to not see so well). I will miss this girl so much when she is no longer around. I got her when I was in college and she's been with us ever since.

She was the cutest puppy ever!

She didn't go anywhere without my brother's dog Tucker

She loved to climb in the dishwasher to make sure no crumbs were left....

She loves to clean the ice cream container...............

She thinks Shaun's medical books are as boring as I do

She can put a whole tennis ball in her mouth

She can get an entire loaf of bread off the counter and leave only this.....

She empties our bathroom trash can for us every time we leave the house......

She got into Shaun's backpack and into the toiletry bag that was in it and this is what we found...(yes, she chewed up a razor blade...and tums...and toothpaste)

She is mischievous alright. The dog can smell food or anything that can be eaten from a mile away. Over her lifetime she has eaten: 2 loaves of bread (one loaf at a time), a pound of gummy bears that she stole out of Randi's zipped overnight bag when she was here for a visit, a bag of M&M's that were on the desk in our office (we still don't know how she did that), a pack of gum that was in Shaun's dad's bag, and so many other things that I just can't remember right now. We now warn our guests that if there is any food or gum or toothpaste in their bags to lock it up tight and close the door to their room!

She is the happiest dog and has so much energy. Even now when people see her they cannot believe how old she is because of how fast she runs and how much energy she has. She has been so much company for me on nights when Shaun was studying in med school or working overnight in residency. She is my girl....my now 13 year old girl! Not quite old enough for her drivers license but she is perfectly happy to be the passenger:

Oh, what a sweet post! Happy Birthday, Maddy!

Our dogs got into a case of beer one time. I swear that they were totally drunk when we got home! =)

Happy Birthday Maddy! Aren't dogs wonderful!? And isn't it so sad to think they won't always be with us? Enjoy your time with your first baby!
