I spent the weekend baking. I LOVE to bake. I HATE don't really like to cook but I love to bake! So, for the past couple of years I have baked goodies of all sorts for friends/neighbors. When we moved here a year and a half ago I knew that these were going to be the kind of neighbors that would appreciate it. We live in the best neighborhood ever. I love it. My mom calls it Mayberry. I call it bliss. They are the kind of neighbors who welcomed us to the neighborhood with cards, bottles of wine, and just coming over to introduce themselves. We met everyone I think within a few weeks. They are the kind of people who brought us meal after meal after meal when Julianne was born. They are such a gift. So, I feel it is the least I can do to say thank you by baking some goodness up for them. It was a bit more challenging this year with a baby tugging at me and wanting to pull herself up on the oven (luckily we have an oven that does not get hot on the outside when on). I kept it simple this year with banana bread and three kinds of cookies (oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip and snickerdoodles). Yum! Of course I had to taste test to make sure they were good before I gave them out! I really do think that a Kitchen aid mixer is the best invention ever (next to Tivo of course). The baking was really fun. The going outside in the -5 weather to deliver them was not. It is FREEZING here right now! I think the high today was 7 or something ridiculous! Brrrrr! Here are some pics of the festivities:

Snickerdoodles in progress.....

The chocolate chip cookies...and that wasn't even all of them!

Oatmeal raisin hot out of the oven....yum!

The boxes waiting to be filled up...12 in total (that's all I could handle)
It smelled so good in our house. There is almost nothing better than that smell. Except the smell of pine-sol. I love that smell! Yes, I am weird.

This weekend was also filled with Julianne trying new things. She can now pull herself up on just about anything and her new favorite thing to hang out by is the stairs. I need another baby gate, stat! I've bought a couple that I returned because I didn't like them. I want a really good pressure mounted one if anyone has any recommendations. She gets quite proud of herself when she starts to try and climb the stairs.

Of course, she stands against the baby gate too and yells (I love that belly)!

Her newest thing is trying to do a headstand. I have no idea why she does this but she tries it several times a day. A gymnast maybe??

She also loves to give us the "what are you crazy look".....

And just because it's so sweet, a kisses from daddy shot.....

The next few days will be filled with a little last minute shopping (just some stocking stuffers and such to pick up), and preparing for the arrival of grammy and papa (my parents). They arrive Christmas evening so we will be celebrating the day after Christmas. That's fine for this year since she has no idea what day it is I guess! We hope that all of you have a very Merry Christmas and safe travels to those of you off to visit loved ones!

Man, I wish I was close enough for some of those goodies! I feel the same way about our neighborhood, but it's a little different b/c our favorite neighbors moved away this week. =(

I love our baby gate. It's painted metal, and looks pretty cool, but it is pressure mounted and works great! I didn't have a choice though, b/c it's the only one that went wide enough for the top of our stairs. I got it at Babies R Us, and it says Summer on it. I think it's this one:, but I don't know if mine is the "extra tall" one.

BTW, I love Julianne's "crazy" look in that photo. It's perfect!!
