The Shred


It's Monday, it's the start of a new month and the day that I've been dreading and looking forward to all at the same time. It's time to start The Shred. I've heard a lot of people talk about this workout program and I'm giving it a shot. I just finished my first workout and I gotta say, it was tough. I am so out of shape. I recently lost 15 pounds but did it mostly with diet due to the fact that I have tendinitis in my right foot/ankle. Remember when I had to wear my boot? My foot recently started hurting again but I'm going to push through and do this anyway. I'm hoping that Jillian Michaels can finally help me get into the shape I want to be in (which basically involves being able to do a 20 minute workout without feeling like I'm going to die and losing my muffin top). Having Julianne sure did a number on my body. I weigh less now than I did when I got pregnant with her but everything just looks different and I just carry weight where I never did before (mainly my belly).

So, I'm putting it out here, in the blogosphere, that I am going to complete The Shred. I am determined and now that I've put it out here for all of you to read I have to do it....right?

Have any of you tried The Shred or have any words of wisdom for me? I find Jillian a tad annoying but she seems to know what she's doing (have you seen what she's done for contestants on The Biggest Loser)? I like the circuit type training that keeps you moving but also keeps it fresh because you are doing a lot of different activities.

Here are my goals:

- lose 10 more pounds
- be able to work my way up to the level 3 workout and do the entire workout without stopping
- more energy
- eat no more than 1200 calories a day
- walk at least 5 days a week (does pushing a stroller burn extra calories?)

Wish me luck! I'll do weekly updates and hopefully in a month I'll be "shredded"!

Oh I wish we lived close enough that we could achieve those goals together! I'm starting ChaLean Extreme this week, and I also plan to get THE SHRED in the mail by the end of next week!

WE HAVE THE EXACT SAME SET OF GOALS!

Good for you! Keep us posted! I'm trying to be much better about my workouts too. I need to be better about my diet, too. I am not good about telling myself "NO!"

Let me know how this program works out. We are doing P90X. It is an hour or more a night. SO EXHAUSTING. Hence the reason I find multiple reasons why I should NOT do it many nights a week. :)

Yup, it's out here for us all to see now. No kind of motivation like the fear of having to publicly eat your words, eh?

The Biggest Loser is one of my top shows.

I think pushing a stroller does burn extra calories. Our jogging stroller steers to the right and I have to constantly correct it (when I walk with it... I do not run.) It's a great big pain in the ass, but I realized the other day that it has given me great biceps!

I made a vow last week to start doing crunches to combat my c-section belly. So far, it's not going well.

Great job! I have heard so much about "The Shred" lately that I think I am just going to have to check it out! Yes, I think walking will definitely help and I like that you mentioned that she switches up the work outs, because that is something I struggle with. I get bored with my work outs. Lol. I have trained for a 1/2 marathon before and basically I just jog, jog, jog. But it gets sooo boring! So this sounds good and I wish you luck! Find people to keep you accountable and eating the right food has a lot to do with it. Oh, and don't starve yourself. Ha ha. I have found that eating small portions through out the day keeps your metabolism up, because if you don't have enough nutrients it doesn't help you keep up the weight loss in the long run. ;) The dailyplate.com has helped me because it keeps track of the food you eat, calories, and nutrients, etc. It's a constant struggle for me to stay healthy and work out too, but as long as you maintain this positive out look, you are going to do great! I'm going to give you 2 bits of advice for your workouts that have worked for me.

DO NOT work our barefoot. I can nearly guarantee that it will irritate your tendinitis. When I did workouts without shoes, everything hurt, knees, back and feet arches.

Also, if you want to keep up with calories, I have been using myfitnesspal.com.

It has been so helpful in keeping me accountable for every single thing I eat and where there are hidden carbs and stuff like that. I have been literally trying to lose "baby weight" for 6 years and this website has been the only thing that has helped me. It's awesome!
