Niagara Falls with mimi and papa

My mom and dad came out a couple of weeks ago and boy did the girls have fun with their mimi and papa! They arrived on a Friday evening and the girls had a great time unloading a suitcase filled with stuff for them. They then had a great time climbing into the empty suitcase. We left the next morning for Niagara Falls. My mom has always wanted to go to Niagara Falls and I must say, you should see it if you ever have the chance. Shaun and I went 2 years ago and we had a great time. It's just a short 3 1/2 hours to the Canadian side of the falls from our house so we took the opportunity (before we move away from Cleveland) to take my parents to see it!

We got a falls view room and Julianne was quite impressed with the view. She kept saying "waterfall" over and over again.

The view from our room. It was lovely.
Our 2 room suite had a peek-a-boo bathroom. I wondered what the purpose of that was. I still do actually. My mom thought it was hysterical (as seen in the picture below). It took us a while to figure out there was a shade in between the panes of glass!
Claire and Julianne were checking out the bathroom too.

Julianne took a turn in the tub. She liked the tub until later that night when my mom put her in it and turned on the jets. Then she was "done".
We promptly left our hotel room to walk down to the falls. The girls were exhausted...almost four hours in the car. A short nap for Claire and no nap for Julianne made for 2 tired girls. Claire decided to pass out in the stroller.
By the way, best thing on the trip....when we got down close to the falls my mom said "oh man, it's raining". My dad, Shaun and I started laughing hysterically. She didn't realize that the "rain" was actually the mist from the falls (yes, it's that powerful). Love you mom!
We decided to do the most touristy thing you can while at the falls. The Maid of the Mist boat ride. Shaun and I didn't do this the first time we went because the line was looooong. This time there was not a long line at all so we decided to check it out. Boats aren't my thing but this was so worth it. Not only for the views but to see your family put on blue plastic raincoats. My mom tried to put hers on while we were still walking down to the boat (she just couldn't wait to get that beautiful blue parka on!)
It was really windy so she had some difficulty
Shaun did not like his parka! :)
Claire was very excited obviously to be boarding the boat

It's like herding cattle getting people on this boat.

What we were heading for!
Claire woke up and saw the waterfall...this is what she thought of it
Julianne liked what she saw!
My parents and I
My mom and I
Water is so powerful...the mist coming off of this was unreal
Me and my #1 guy!
Julianne showing papa something
Half of our pictures look like this. There was mist blowing constantly so we were squinting or closing our eyes a lot!

Julianne got her own parka!
My baby love
Claire was diggin' it!
Did I mention that Julianne wanted nothing to do with any of us except for papa (no one else exists when her papa is around!)
Full rainbow!
This is where our boat came from....we got right up next to the falls (thank goodness we opted for the lower deck, the people on the top were soaked!)
Julianne did not enjoy the parka very much
"wanna take it off"
We let her do it herself because "Julianne's a big girl". I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard that phrase!
Love those cheeks!
We thought being at Niagara Falls would be a great opportunity to get a family picture. Julianne had other ideas!
Nope. Not gonna look at the camera. We gave up.
Then we gave her to papa so that we could take a picture of my parents and the girls. Oh wow, look at that. A smile. And looking at the camera.
She kept smiling
And looking at the camera.
And even did cute poses.
Maybe we should just photo shop Shaun and I into these pictures.....geez!
We walked around the downtown area of Niagara Falls for a bit and then ate dinner and went back to our room for baths and to relax. Julianne had fun relaxing in the "big girl bed".
The next day, we went to Niagara on the Lake which is the little town that Shaun and I stayed in when we went to the area before. It is a quaint little town that is known for wine. Tons of wineries and a downtown area with shops, restaurants and such. It is peaceful. I love it there!
We had lunch overlooking the lake
And look at the big girl in the high chair!
Love this pic!
This is part of the downtown area. My mom and I could have shopped all day!

It's a great place to share an ice cream with your papa!
And walk down the street hand in hand with him!
Tree lined streets. It's oh so beautiful.

It was a great weekend! More of our time with mimi and papa to come!
